T\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ehis is commonly achieved using external components like resistors or voltage regulators. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBoth methods are tremendously inefficient, wasting a lot of energy through heat, and can possibly lead to unwanted fires, if heat builds up.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSafety\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eEfficiency\u003c\/strong\u003e are important for us. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThis is why our new \u003cstrong\u003e∞Bullets \u003c\/strong\u003edesign features a \u003cstrong\u003enative 12v IC\u003c\/strong\u003e, without the need of additional resistors or voltage regulators on the led to step down the voltage.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis results in way less heat dissipation, compared to traditional 12v bullets, making our \u003cstrong\u003e∞Bullets safer \u003c\/strong\u003eto use, running at \u003cstrong\u003elo\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ewer temperatures\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eextremely\u003c\/strong\u003e \u003cstrong\u003epower efficient \u003c\/strong\u003eat only 0.14W\/pixel. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eJust 15 mins after being powered up, traditional bullet pixels were running at \u003cstrong\u003e113°F \u003c\/strong\u003ewhile \u003cstrong\u003e∞Bullets \u003c\/strong\u003ewere running at \u003cstrong\u003e79°F\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWe also \u003cstrong\u003eincreased\u003c\/strong\u003e the \u003cstrong\u003ePCB thickness\u003c\/strong\u003e to make heat dissipation even better, and chosen a \u003cstrong\u003ewhite PCB\u003c\/strong\u003e that reflects sunlight, \u003cstrong\u003eextending components lifespan\u003c\/strong\u003e over the years. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAt Pixel-Now we like to test our new products even beyond their limits, to ensure we are providing \u003cstrong\u003esafer products\u003c\/strong\u003e to our customers. \u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eOur new \u003cstrong\u003e∞\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eIC \u003c\/strong\u003ehas superpowers. It’s the end of pixels underpowered at 11.9v\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe nominal voltage is 12v and maximum from specs is 16v. But this hasn’t stopped us from discovering the limits of this \u003cstrong\u003e∞IC\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWe pushed 16v and 24v in our lights and they were just operating a bit warmer. (but still cooler than resistor bullets)\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAt 30v \u003cstrong\u003ethermal and current protection\u003c\/strong\u003e kicks in and turns off the LED, but by adjusting down the voltage to 12v makes them function again. \u003cbr\u003eWe discovered the \u003cstrong\u003eabsolute blowout\u003c\/strong\u003e of the led doesn't occur until a stunning 42V input...\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eFor \u003cstrong\u003eadditional safety\u003c\/strong\u003e test we pushed voltage even higher. We reached the limit of our power supply and fed \u003cstrong\u003e61v\u003c\/strong\u003e in the bullet, except for a bit of increase in heat, there were no major safety concerns shown. \u003cstrong\u003eNo magic smoke. No fires.\u003c\/strong\u003e We’re definitely impressed by how \u003cstrong\u003esafe\u003c\/strong\u003e these lights are.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e∞Runs, extended \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cb\u003elengths. \u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe \u003cstrong\u003elower power consumption\u003c\/strong\u003e, combined with a \u003cstrong\u003etrue 18AWG\u003c\/strong\u003e (0.75mm) \u003cstrong\u003ewire\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eSolid Core pins xConnectors\u003c\/strong\u003e allows you to put up to \u003cstrong\u003e3x\u003c\/strong\u003e \u003cstrong\u003emore LEDs\u003c\/strong\u003e on your controllers, maximizing the ports on your controller and the PSU usage. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003e∞Bullets \u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003eruns without any power injection\/balancing can reach:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e~ 475 LEDs at 12v and 30% brightness\u003cbr\u003e~ 525 LEDs at 16v and 30% brightness\u003cbr\u003e~ 825 LEDs at 24v and 30% brightness*\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e*24v were used for testing purposes only, the maximum power input recommended from specs is 16v.
